Designation Mechanical -Design Lead - Airports (Terminal) - With Leading Oil & Gas Industry Client
Job Description
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work for a global business unit usually in one discipline in a project or staff group. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, constructability, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
  • Plans, coordinates or prepares equipment or work specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations for equipment.
  • Coordinates engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups.
  • When delegated, assumes a lead technical role over other engineers or project subgroups for completing specific tasks.
  • Assists in on-the-job-training of assigned personnel and provides input for their performance evaluations.
  • Prepares letters to vendors and clients.
  • Reviews bids and makes recommendation.
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
  • Performs or assists in the performance of problem analysis and original design.
  • Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts, trends and change orders.
  • Initiates requests for specialized professional services.
  • Reviews project engineering progress against approved schedules, evaluates changes and takes corrective action when required.
  • Manages the flow of information required from third parties to assure the timely progress of the engineering work.
  • Ensures that Technical Risk Assessments are comprehensive and complete, safety practices and procedures are implemented, and engineering design and corresponding design documentation are in compliance with project Quality Assurance plan and procedures.
  • Reviews and checks work of subordinate engineers.
  • Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Desired Profile
  • Good knowledge of the aircraft types, airplane design group, equivalent aircraft index, level of service, passenger convenience, flexibility, security, terminal signage, accessibility and maintenance of the terminal building.
  • Aware of the process of planning of connections between the ground access system and the Comprehensive understanding of facilities and amenities for processing of passengers and baggage, cargo handling, airport administration, maintenance and operation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of an airport’s Terminal system of components for the processing of passengers and their luggage.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Domestic and international terminal requirements – single or multilevel terminals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of an airport’s Terminal operations, Fire protection, Electrical, Plumbing and Controls systems as applicable to the Terminal facilities of a large Airport terminal.
  • Good knowledge of specific threat and vulnerability as well as routine screening process of passengers and baggage.
  • Knowledge of specific Terminal planning regulations and requirements including FAA advisory circulars.
  • Aware of information technology based systems for the overall management and maintenance of the terminal building.
  • Ability to understand and visualize constraints within the project and lead the coordination process with all Terminal trades.
  • Ability to review and analyze Terminal facility designs and shop drawings, materials, schedules, etc.
  • Ability to review procedures, witness testing and commissioning of Terminal equipment’s and facilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
  • Understanding of engineering planning and control methods including computerized methods.
  • Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices and the economics involved.
  • Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
