Job Details

• Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work for a global business unit usually in one project or staff group. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, constructability, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
• Plans, coordinates or prepares equipment or work specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations for fire protection and detection systems.
• Coordinates engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups.
• Assists in on-the-job-training of assigned personnel.
• Prepares letters to vendors and clients.
• Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
• Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts, trends and change orders.
• Initiates requests for specialized professional services.
• Manages the flow of information required from third parties to assure the timely progress of the engineering work.
• Ensures that Technical Risk Assessments are comprehensive and complete, safety practices and procedures are implemented, and engineering design and corresponding design documentation are in compliance with project Quality Assurance plan and procedures.
• Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

• Conceptual and detailed engineering of fire protection and fire detection systems –fire water system, gaseous extinguishing system, fire alarm and detection system, portable & mobile extinguishers.
• Experience of working in Infrastructure projects; hands-on experience in Revit and working in BIM environment is desirable.
• Knowledgeable in fire protection equipment selection, pipe sizing, fire schematics, preparation of data sheets and equipment specifications.
• Conceptual and detailed engineering of plumbing and drainage systems.
• Knowledge of industry and regulatory codes and standards such as NFPA; International Plumbing Code, knowledge of International Building Code and International Fire Code is desirable.
• Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
• Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design including appropriate knowledge of CAD (both 2-D and 3-D) and Standard Computer Applications to perform the work. Knowledge of Pipenet, Elite or equivalent software for fire water hydraulics is desirable.
• Review of vendor drawings, resolution of site queries and RFI.
• Capture as-built information on field drawings.
• Understanding of engineering planning and control methods including computerized methods.
• Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices and the economics involved.
• Experience of working on large sized projects is preferred.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
