Designation AVP- Regulatory Risk - With Leading Financial Industry Client
Job Description

Participates from inception through implementation, in cross-functional or cross business issues designed to ensure business compliance with laws, regulations, and policy requirements across key/complex risk levels.
Utilizes Issue Management processes and project management methodology from the initiation, planning, control requirements, execution, and closing phases of each issue; end results may include improved productivity, technology, processes, cost savings, and controls.
May support any area of the business (organizationally, regionally or product-wise) from an issue/project perspective; regular engagement with Senior Business Level Officers, Legal, Risk, and Compliance regarding complex matters.
Initiates and develops relationships with others throughout the business unit and the company in order to identify and understand business needs
Implement solutions to improve effectiveness and results
Ensure a culture of accountability, integrity and respect
Works issues/projects as assigned to support improvements
Identify and analyze escalated problems and provide guidance for resolution
Negotiate solutions and acts as a liaison with internal and external clients
Monitor, research and evaluate technological advances in the industry to identify appropriate alternatives for enhancing current department operations
Evaluate cost/benefits, make recommendations, develop and oversee implementation plans
Provides judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated and unique situations
Directly impacts the area through shared responsibility for delivery of end results
Implement and develop controls to prevent risk within specialized business
Analyzes and identifies risk and performs analytical reporting
Acts as a consultant to the businesses regarding processes & controls
Drives corrective actions
Provides support to business activity owners and Third Party Risk and Control functions
Coordinates and assists with onsite reviews
Completion of compliance documentation and on boarding activities relevant to compliance due diligence.
Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.

Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding the bank, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Actively collaborating with business leaders to identify, evaluate, and manage regulatory adherence risks arising from the definition of business strategy, development of new products and services, changes in regulations or internal policies, or from business-led changes. This involves promoting a culture of responsible business innovation with a strong emphasis on demonstrable regulatory adherence through key risk and controls monitoring.
Working with business leaders and process owners on required regulatory obligations and contributing to the end-to-end development of controls and monitoring to ensure they are designed to adhere with applicable regulations. This includes active engagement during the scoring of inherent risk, and the performance of control and monitoring design assessments to ensure identified regulatory risk is well understood and addressed.
Continuously evaluating and driving the maintenance of the regulatory inventory linkage to supporting controls in the banks system of record so that management can effectively demonstrate adherence to applicable laws and regulations through the Managers Control Assessment program.
Conducting an annual evaluation of Regulation Risk for inclusion in the MCA Annual Risk Assessment. Evaluating Regulation Risk Control performance to identify and escalate high residual risks and those breaching their defined risk appetite. Consolidate a 1st line state of regulatory adherence report for senior management and recommending corrective actions and improvements required to mitigate the identified risks.
Proactively identifying business opportunities to improve regulation risk management, prioritizing reviews to uncover root causes and unknown drivers of risk. The candidate will analyze data and findings to define and present clear, concise recommendations to business leaders to strengthen their ability to make impactful strategic decisions, policy and procedure improvements, and other business strategies.
Developing strong relationships with Business, Operations & Technology leadership and partners in 2nd and 3rd lines of defense and engage with them to reduce and mitigate regulation risk. The candidate will also partner with Business MCA Management Teams in the continuous enhancement of regulation controls and monitoring. This includes engaging with Assessment Unit (AU) leads and process owners to develop requirements to automate controls and digitize monitoring where appropriate.
Guiding the MCA Management Team and process owners across Business, Operations, and Technology on establishing permanent audit readiness activities that effectively demonstrate adherence to applicable regulatory obligations. This includes providing guidance to or participating in targeted review teams, and engaging with Internal Audit and Compliance Assurance over potential regulatory findings.

Desired Profile

  • Required Licensing/Registration: Series 7, Series 9, Series 10, Series 24,
  • Subject matter expertise in local regulations as applicable to the business
  • Working-level knowledge of core end-to-end processes performed in the Consumer Bank business
  • Experience with governance, risk and control management, risk approvals, as well as engaging with 2nd/3rd lines of defense
  • Understanding / familiarity with new product development (e.g. first and second line of defense risk/control mechanisms
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence, engaging across multiple functions and seniority levels
  • Ability to move from granular detail to strategic level, with effective executive presentation skills
  • Comfortable operating with limited guidance and under significant time pressure
  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience
