• Position will report directly to the Head L&H Americas & A&R Bangalore. In addition, the position will have a strong dotted-line to the Head L&H Reinsurance Reporting, Canada.
• Day-to-day interaction with Canada Reinsurance Finance team
• Prioritize daily work to ensure all deadlines are met
• Perform critical self-review to ensure high quality work product
• Assimilation of local culture with Accounting Hub culture
• Ability to develop and cultivate relationships with local cross-functional business partners and global business partners, particularly in Actuarial Management, Claims, Technical Accounting and Products.
• Frequent and pragmatic communication in regard to work load and issues encountered with both local and Canadian-based management
• Review support provided on quarter close responsibilities, challenging and leading team members to acquire necessary systems and technical knowledge to effectively handle tasks and responsibilities
• Focus on understanding, implementing and subsequently stabilizing activities, as they are transitioned from Canada Finance in Toronto.
• Adapt to new system environment (note that Canada Reinsurance Finance will be transitioning to ATLAS/SAP effective 1.1.2019).
• Responsible for all bases of Accounting US GAAP, Canadian Statutory/IFRS, other statutory bases and Economic Value Management (EVM); challenge team members to take on basic research items related to US GAAP and IFRS and willingness to build deep familiarity with EVM and the other statutory bases.
• The individual will need to play an active role in the upcoming significant changes in IFRS for the new standards on insurance contracts and financial instruments, working closely with SMEs and the Reporting team in Canada

• 10+ year(s) Financial accounting and reporting experience for non-qualified accountants, OR
• 8+ year(s) financial accounting and reporting experience for qualified accountants. CA/CPA or other equivalent designation is a plus
• 3+ year(s) experience of people management
• Prefer candidate that possesses experience in working with North American company and are familiar with North American business practices and culture
• Expert knowledge regarding US GAAP and/or IFRS and operations experience
• Knowledge of Financial Services is a must, with a strong preference to insurance accounting experience
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively at the management level and lead meetings efficiently; able to communicate complex business information in a clear and concise way to senior management
• High awareness of risks in own area of responsibility and related processes; executes controls as designed; reviews, updates or defines controls and processes
• Self-motivated and independent; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines; strong analytical skills to solve complex tasks
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills
• Strong relationship building skill set
• Demonstrates leadership characteristics
• Fluent in English
