Job Description
  • Ensure sound HSSE practice in day-to-day work.
  • Devise indirect tax litigation strategies for historical issues with help of external advisors, work with various internal stakeholders and execute the same for timely and efficient closure;
  • Facilitate early recovery of indirect tax refund through strong thought leadership and rigorous follow-up with external advisors and government officers;
  • Lead and put the best defense forward for current tax litigations;
  • Timely and accurate indirect tax and withholding tax advisory to business and Finance Operations (FO) Tax team;
  • Understand changes in indirect tax and withholding tax laws, work with business stakeholder and FO Tax team to define impact and execute way forward (both for business and process);
  • Ensure all aspects of indirect tax and withholding tax planning and advice are properly considered in the return and reporting process with help of FO Tax team;
  • Lead and ensure timely filing corporate tax return for simple Indian and non-resident entities with help of Senior Tax Advisors and FO Tax team;
  • Deliver first time right reporting activities (such as uncertain tax positions, tax recoverable, etc.) as per group tax reporting guidelines;
  • Interface and assist Senior Tax Advisors and Country Tax Lead with shaping activities as required;
  • Assist in raising indirect and withholding tax awareness in the business and FO teams through training and workshops; and
  • Establish and maintain good working relations with relevant tax authorities.
  • Provide steer in identification, prioritization & implementation of CI / PROMS project pipeline and aid in achieving the process targets and implementation of projects.
  • Become a trusted and valued member of the Country Tax team and the various asset/project teams;
  • Proactively engage and maintain strong stakeholder and business connectivity; and
  • Ensure correct and timely escalations of exceptions or tolerance/variances and their resolution with the FO /business.
Desired Profile
  • Recognized professional qualification (Chartered Accountant preferred) and a member of a recognized accounting body with >8 years India tax experience. 
  • Work experience of migrated tax / finance activity in multinational companies or professional firms would be preferable;
  • Candidate should possess strong knowledge and experiences in Indian taxation and strong ability to manage Indian tax litigation;
  • Effective influencing skills and communicator of complex tax compliance issues; both written and oral.;
  • Efficient project management and tax prioritization skills;
  • Working knowledge of various ERP systems used in  various Group and excellent MS Office skill;
  • Ability to understand architecture of various IT systems and tools and use same to guide team to lead various efficiency (Automation, CI etc.) initiatives; and
  • Ability to coach and impart such skills in the team.
