The overall employment generation by the IT sector is set to increase to 4.1 million in 2022, says a study by the National Skill Development Corporation. With technology at the centre of future growth and development, the IT industry is abuzz with opportunity. It saw a four per cent rise in talent demand during the last six months, as compared to the beginning of 2014 when it was down by three per cent, according to TimesJobs.com RecruiteX, a half-yearly recruitment report. Here are five profiles which will be in demand this year.

Quality Assurance/Testing
Skills needed: 
The job requires a strong knowledge of testing methodologies, the ability to write and execute test cases, to develop and maintain test automation and the ability to effectively communicate status to the management. Strong communication skills, flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and knowledge of HTML, CSS and Firebug for Mozilla Firefox are also crucial.
Salary: While entry level graduates can expect salaries between the range of Rs 1.5-3 lakh per annum, middle level professionals can expect anywhere between Rs 3-6 lakh per annum. Senior level professionals can be paid in the range of Rs 6-12 lakh per annum
Demand scenario: The demand for the profile witnessed an eight per cent increase in the last six months.
Projected demand*: The demand will grow by 20-25% in 2015.

Business/Systems Analysis
Business/ systems analysts’ role requires and involves data systems analysis, data quality (quantitative aptitude) and data expertise. Professionals are required to review and analyse, ensure quality of data loads in database systems; work with business partners and technology teams to profile the data, research data anomalies and trends; ensure that business and functional requirements are appropriately aligned with operations and technology; and provide ongoing technical expertise and support to the development lifecycles of products and ancillary applications.
Salary: Fresh graduates can expect Rs 3-4.8 lakh per annum. Middle level professionals get paid between Rs 5-8 lakh per annum and those at the senior level can fetch anything between Rs 8-12 lakh per annum

Graphic Design/Animation/Web Design
The primary responsibilities of graphic designers, animators and web designers include designing new websites and flash animations, rendering design mock-ups, developing and maintaining complete websites. They are also required to create all website elements, including logos, navigation objects, banners, graphics, flash animation, etc; and co-ordinate with developers/ project managers and completely manage the design aspects of the project.
Salary: The pay scales range from Rs 2.5-3.5 lakh per annum for entry level professionals, Rs 3.5-6.5 lakh per annum for middle level employees and Rs 6-10 lakh per annum for senior professionals
Demand scenario: The demand for the profile grew four per cent in the past six months
Projected demand*: The demand will grow by 10-15% in 2015

Database Administration
A database administrator (DBA) is required to create queries, index, statistics, execution plans and database input/output performance tuning; identify weaknesses in codes and then remove them for future releases; utilise software development principles and experience developing within the full life cycle of a software product; analyse data requirements for business applications, develop data models and plan data migration/ conversion strategies for internal and externally hosted applications. The knowledge and the ability to perform in all the basic skills of database administration, physical structure, overall architecture and database analysis is a must-have attribute among professionals
Salary: Those applying for entry level positions can expect salaries within the range of Rs 2.5-5 lakh per annum. Middle level professionals and senior level professioansl can expect Rs 4-7 lakh and Rs 6-10 lakh per annum, respectively
Demand scenario: The demand for the profile went up by four per cent increase during the last six months.
Projected demand*: The demand is going to grow by 10% in 2015

Mobile app development
Mobile app developers should have an experience in writing code, using languages such as (and not limited to) COBOL, PL/1, Java, C, C++, C#, VB.Net; a basic understanding of RDBMS databases such SQL Server and Oracle; knowledge of iOS Human Interface Guideline, Android UI Design and Windows Phone Guidelines for smartphones and tablets; experience of full mobile software development life cycle gathering requirements, software architecture, design, coding, integration and testing; and the ability to plan for automation, script test cases and manage test suites using industry standard tools
Salary: Salaries range from Rs 2-4 lakh per annum for entry level jobs, Rs 5-7 lakh per annum for middle level jobs and Rs 6-10 lakh per annum for senior level positions
Demand scenario: The demand for the profile rose three-four per cent in the past six months
Projected demand*: The demand will be for candidates with four-five years’ experience
